virimine metaphorically represent the convergence of the two fundamental, and somewhat opposite aspects of a technical artist: the creative and the logical. An alias that derives from the fusion of two of my favorite colors: viridian green and carmine red, which in color theory, (red and green) are complementary.
I am a technical artist! I enjoy traversing between the artistic and technical realms. With my knowledge in arts, design, and coding, I can transition between the corresponding pipelines and handle tasks that are often labeled as “too technical” by the art team or deemed “dull” by the programming team. These tasks most often include UI design & implementation, animations, VFX and asset integrations.
Once upon a time, as a youngling, I aspired to become a witch. Growing up I was saddened to discover that magic was banished in this realm, but that didn’t stop me from searching for it in other worlds. There, I met fellow witches and wizards, fighters, summoners… even pokemon trainers!
Not only did the wonderful moments we spent together fill me with unforgettable memories and warm, nostalgic feelings, but they also inspired me to follow my childhood dream of studying the arcane arts.
Later, I faced the dilemma of pursuing a path in either the school of conjuration [or as modern humans call it, “programming”] or the school of illusion. I chose to follow the art of illusion, painting, and painting led me to code. And as my love for invocations and algorithms resurfaced, my book of spells’ length grew, and so did my curiosity.
During my studies, I focused on exploring play and interaction in arts and as a means of creative expression. My need for engagement and deep interest in modern technology and the digital era led me to get involved with game development, algorithmic art, and interactive media. At the same time, I participated in game jams and in various team and solo projects. During my last years of studying, I developed my thesis, an interactive sculpture, which granted me an MFA in Visual and Applied Arts.
As an explorer at heart, I often enjoy escaping my homestead to embark on new adventures. I derive my energy from nature and from having conversations… especially with the little critters I meet on the street. They usually have useful insights and secrets to share…
